Gamification on Social Media

Project Objective:

The primary goal of this project is to engage customers on Instagram through gamification, increasing brand visibility while collecting photos and videos for content. Participants will compete in a challenge for rewards based on a point system, which will be earned by performing various actions on Instagram.

Game Mechanics:

Initial Participation:
Participants register via a form on the website or a dedicated landing page for the “Season Challenge.” Upon registration, they are assigned a profile with a nickname that will appear on the monthly leaderboard. Required fields include:

  • DNI
  • Email
  • First-time Instagram user (username)

Actions That Earn Points:
Participants can accumulate points by performing the following actions on Instagram and the website/landing page:

  • Registration: Completing the form with a public Instagram account grants 50 points.
  • Posts with Mentions: Posting a photo on Instagram feed, mentioning and tagging the official account, earns 30 points. (Profile must be public for it to count in the leaderboard. Private profiles won’t be tracked.)
  • Upload Video: 20 points for uploading a video.
  • Upload Photo: 10 points for uploading a photo.
  • Comments: 5 points for each comment on Grupolive posts.

Leaderboard:
An updated leaderboard will be displayed on the website/landing page, either in real-time or weekly. The winner’s points will be announced on Instagram every fortnight.

Incentives:

  • Biweekly Prize: The top participant of each fortnight will receive a prize, announced prior to the start of the fortnight.
  • Grupolive Awards: At the end of the season, the participant with the highest points will receive a grand prize.

Technical Process Flow (Using Make.com Automations):

  1. Front-end website:
    • Tools: Front-end bustom built in vanilla javascript and html.
    • Action: Upon submission, a webhook verifies the Instagram account and registers the user. Points are assigned via Airtable.
  2. Monitoring Mentions & Tags on Instagram:
    • Tools: Instagram Business API to alert of mentions. Rapid API endpoint to scrape mentions and collect information.
    • Action: Points are automatically assigned for valid actions (e.g., 10 points for photos, 5 points for stories).
  3. Instagram Comments Tracking:
    • Tools: Instagram Business API to monitor comments.
  4. Photos & Video Upload Tracking:
    • Tools: Cloudinary upload box to store uploads.
  5. Leaderboard Updates:
    • Tools: Airtable API to update and custom Cache system to update and maintain the leaderboard in real time.

Participants will accumulate points based on various activities and spontaneous actions announced through email, WhatsApp, or Instagram.

The system ensures a seamless integration between the websitem, Airtable, Instagram, and Make.com to automate points tracking and leaderboard updates.
